ProgramsTop Craft Group Our craft group meets every Thursday from 10:00am - 2:00pm to prepare for our big craft fair in November. You do not have to be crafty, you just have to want to learn and have fun. All are invited to join in, who knows what talent you may have hidden away. Top Cursillo Cursillo is a movement within the Catholic Church that helps people discover and fulfill their personal vocations for living their Christian faith in the world. The word "Cursillo" is a Spanish word meaning "short course" in Christianity. A Cursillo Weekend is a three-day, all-men's or all-women's retreat, beginning Thursday evening and ending Sunday afternoon. Each day of the Cursillo Weekend begins with Morning Prayers and ends with Night Prayers. Mass is celebrated daily (except Thursday). Talks are given each day by team members who have specially prepared themselves to lead the weekend. The team always includes one priest and one other spiritual director, as well as lay people who have previously attended a Cursillo Weekend. Other cursillistas (people who have previously attended a Weekend) participate by continually praying and offering up sacrifices for the people on the retreat. If you are interested in attending a Cursillo Weekend, please e-mail Fran or Marshall Slayton. Cursillistas support each other by participating in Group Reunions, which is a regular meeting of Christian friends, and in Ultreyas, in which all Cursillistas come together for spiritual fellowship. Even if you have not gone on a Cursillo Weekend, you are invited to attend Group Reunions and Ultreyas. For more information on Cursillo and Cursillo-related events, please visit the Valley Cursillo website, or e-mail Fran or Marshall Slayton. Top Hospital and Home Visits Father Alan will be most happy to make hospital and home visits to those parishioners who are infirmed or otherwise unable to attend Mass. Please call the office to make arrangements. Top Little Flowers Little Flowers provides the girls of our parish an opportunity to learn about their faith (through study of the Bible, Catechism, and lives of saints), earn badges for practicing virtues, do service for our church and the community, make crafts, and have fun! This fall, we will have TWO groups: one for grades K-5 , and the other grades 6 & up. For more information, or to register for this fall, please call Dianna Williams @ 434-589-5405. Registration ends August 1st. |
